Can you have too much training? KeolisAmey Docklands had an LMS stacked to the brim with off-the-shelf soft skills content, but it wasn’t landing with their managers. They decided to tackle the problem with a bespoke suite of instructor-led training, and to try and get their arms around the mass of digital learning to find what was relevant.
Working with KeolisAmey’s HR team, we developed a blended suite of leadership and management learning, combining instructor-led training with digital learning to ensure the needs of their managers were met.
We met with KeolisAmey HR to understand the problems their managers were facing, and what issues they were coming to HR to deal with. We identified key pain points both for managers and for HR so that we could structure a learning solution that addressed the issues faced by both.
We worked closely with HR and the LMS team to understand what existing resources were available, and used our expertise to curate relevant, engaging elements of their current digital library into the curricula.
Having analysed the need, we created three learning pathways covering Interpersonal Skills, Performance Management and Development, and Organisational Skills, along with introductory e-learning on the Leadership Journey and Stepping Up to Management (for first-time managers moving up internally), leveraging Articulate and Vyond.
We created 45min instructor-led sessions, assigning curated e-learning elements as prerequisites to allow the training to focus on the most value-added areas. Post-course learning resources were also identified, and the learning was supported by templates and a series of Quick Reference Guides covering each of the topics so learners could refresh ‘on the job’. We worked closely with the KeolisAmey team to ensure we captured the right tone of voice and applied a consistent, modern look and feel across all of the mateial.
